A graded card is a card that has been sent to PSA, SGC or BGS, authenticated, assigned a numeric grade and sealed in a tamper-evident holder with a label carrying the set, the year, the card number and a certification number. For a player as heavily counterfeited on the autograph side as Pedri, that label is the point: it moves the authentication question off your eyes and onto a chain you can verify.
Every cert number can be looked up free on the grading company's own site, and the lookup returns the card the slab is supposed to contain. If the page does not match the label in front of you, the slab is wrong — and that check costs nothing before you buy.
The graded market and the raw market are effectively two different markets for the same checklist slot. The number on the label is the same #61, #89 or #196 you would find on a raw copy; the grade, not the number, is what separates the listings.
